You're just glowing

And no, I'm not pregnant. Saturday night we met my parents and little sister for dinner at a steakhouse. While waiting my 11th grade English teacher and her husband walked in. This lady had been more than a teacher to me. Over the course of my high school career we had been friends. We maintained contact until after my marriage, but then lost touch. When I moved back home after my divorce I ran into her again at my little sister's parent/teacher conference. We caught up and went on our way.

So Saturday night was a reunion. I shook her husband's hand, introduced her to the kids and Bill. We caught up a little. She had gotten remarried, her kids had graduated college, save for one, and she was working towards retirement in teaching. I caught her up on my degree, job, and home life. She smiled at me and told me how happy I looked. I told her I was happy. She told me I deserved it. She said, after seeing the way I looked at Bill that he lit me up. She said he lights me up from the inside. I was so happy she could see my joy.

We parted when they called our table. As I walked away she said again, "I'm so happy for you, you truly deserve it!" I smiled, slid into the booth beside Bill, and agreed. I was happy. What's that Trent Willmon song?

She loves this life we're livin'/Barefoot dancin' in the kitchen/I'm pickin'/One string missin'/And she don't seem to mind/Lord knows she deserves better/Ain't got two nickles to rub together but/As long as she's happy/So Am I...
