What is it about a fair that makes you suddenly have a deep seeded NEED for popcorn, funnel cakes, handmade jewlery that if you saw it in the stores you wouldn't give it a second look? Then there's the purses! Oh the purses! The solid colored bottoms, printed ribboned, then paisley topped, embroirdered with your initials (While you wait!). They even do diaper bags!!! Your mind just kicks into this "Must have it now" mode. Your hands itch to grab your checkbook or debit card as most booths take those now.
My honey and I had the kids at the park this weekend with my mom and sister. The little trains were running. No, I'm not kidding. The Middle Tennessee Live Steamers. I'm sure they have a website, no I haven't looked it up. They are small trains that people can ride on, especially the perfect size for kids. This is a hobby people actually enjoy doing in their free time. I'm sure it gets quite expensive. I will admit though, when I was sitting on that little train holding my lil one, I was pretty relaxed in the sun. I actually caught myself thinking, "This would be fun, maybe we should..." WTF am I thinking???
It's like bringing home a stray puppy. Sure he's cute for awhile, but geez. Do you REALLY wanna keep him??? There's the financial investment to consider, then the time factor, and the up keep...
So we were content to ride the train... Although I think if I would have actually ASKED Bill for a train this would have been his reaction:
I actually bought myself one of those fancy little girl umbrellas when I was 18 with my name on it. When I was growing up my dad always thought they were a waste of money. So I wasted my own money. ;) What do you NEED at a fair? Anything in particular?
