Yesterday I did something I swore up and down for years I swore I'd never do.  Oh yeah, I did.  **Arches eyebrow, looks up at hilarious picture.**  I think the ladies in the crowd can atest to the fact that other ways of *ahem* grooming can give you multiple skin problems and I am no different.  I have been suffering with those.  Last week an old friend from high school cut my hair at the local salon and I got the courage up to ask her about it.  Her take?

"It's not that bad.  Besides, you've had a kid right?"

Oh boy, THAT was the most painful experience of MY LIFE.  But then I got to thinking.  She was right.  It couldn't be THAT bad or people wouldn't be getting them.  She also said that the maintainence is easier.  Hmm...  I like that.  So I called and made an appointment.

The girl set me up and then asked me if I had some "No Scream Cream".  Um...  WTF, mate?  No...  I hadn't ever heard of it.  She told me it was a sort of numbing cream.  I told her to sign me up and I would be by after work to pick that goldmine up!

So the next day at work armed with my Advil (a tip gleaned from my internet research) and my itty bitty tube of gold remedy for a less painful experience I got ready for my "treatment".

On lunch I went to the salon.  A girl I had gone to high school with was there, but not my friend.  Great, an audience for the humiliation!  We had a pleasant exchange and then the torturer, er, beauty tech (because I can't spell aestetician) handed me a glass of water and told me I wouldn't be able to use the bathroom for an hour.  Thanks...  She actually was very nice and put me at ease immediately.  I realize she had to tell me that...

So the proceedure went well.  Well, okay, it was bearable.  The worst part was knowing it was coming.  If I could have just been taken by surprise 1800 times that would have been... great.

Short term memory loss at this point would have been wonderful, blissful even.

At the end she aloed me.  That was the BEST part.  The funny thing was she was trying to drape me and be all modest.  I was like, "Hello???  You just waxed me!"

Then she asked if I wanted my eyebrows waxed.  Um, let's see...  I just went through THAT?  I think I can handle my eyebrows.

And I'm ashamed to say I didn't shed a tear until she did my eyebrows...
